James Lileks on modern architecture
From good ol' the Bleat:
This picture of the bandshell [in Chicago's Millenium Park] is typical of the sort of modern architecture that bores me dead. More Frank Gehry jiffy-pop whimsy.
Another shot here. Nature, walled off for your convenience! At least we know where they’ll shoot the sequel to "Logan's Run."

little old nerds
Somasegar (apparently some guy at MSDN) relates an anecdote about their ad campaign for Visual Studio:
During this photo shoot, a little old lady walked up to us as we were shooting and asked what we were doing. Now, typically, on a movie set, you always say that you’re shooting "a mayonnaise commercial". Don’t ask why, it’s just a classic thing on a movie or a photo shoot. So, we told her, "It’s a mayonnaise commercial." She looked at our backdrop, thought for a second, scratched her head, and said, "So, what does mayonnaise have to do with code and schemas?" It just proves that developers come in all shapes and size.
